Exactly What IMC Does — and What It Does Not
IMC is a medical coordination service. The scope is deliberately narrow: your assessment, your specialist appointment, your treatment plan and your documentation. Everything outside that is stated plainly below.
Cross-Border Transfer
Collected From Home, Returned After Discharge
A complimentary seven-seat transfer runs between your Hong Kong address and the hospital, included with your treatment package.
- 01
Door-to-door across Hong Kong
Pick-up from your address on Hong Kong Island, in Kowloon or the New Territories.
- 02
Through the border without leaving the vehicle
Shenzhen Bay or Huanggang crossing, with the driver handling the route.
- 03
Direct to the hospital entrance
No transfers, no waiting at the checkpoint, no walking with luggage.
- 04
Returned to your Hong Kong address
The same service brings you home on the day you are discharged.
Vehicle
- Seven-seat MPV, Toyota Alphard class
- Room to travel comfortably after surgery

Our Scope
The Six Things We Handle
Each of these is a defined deliverable with a named person responsible for it, not a general promise of help.
Case intake and record checking
We check that your imaging and history are complete before a consultant sees them, and tell you exactly what is missing and how to obtain it.
Routing to the right subspecialty
Your case goes to a consultant who practises in the relevant area — knee, spine, joint reconstruction, sports medicine or rehabilitation.
Written specialist review
A written summary of the options identified, the findings each rests on, and what would change the plan. Normally within 48 hours of a complete submission.
Itemised cost estimate
Prepared with the treatment plan, before you commit to anything, with inclusions and exclusions stated in full.
Appointment and admission scheduling
If you proceed, we arrange the date, the admission and the pre-operative workup with the treating department.
Bilingual documentation
Treatment plan, itemised invoice, discharge summary and rehabilitation protocol, prepared in English and Chinese for your own physician.
Our Boundaries
What IMC Does Not Do
Stated in writing so there is no ambiguity later. If you need any of the following, you will need to arrange it independently.
Not a travel service
- Flights, airport transfers or local transport
- Hotels or accommodation of any kind
- Visa applications or immigration advice
- Chaperone, tour or leisure arrangements
- Anything that is not part of your medical plan
Not a clinical provider
- IMC does not diagnose or treat. Clinical care is delivered by the treating hospital and its physicians, who remain responsible for clinical decisions.
- IMC does not own or operate hospitals.
- IMC does not guarantee any clinical outcome, recovery time or result.
- IMC does not provide emergency care. Emergency symptoms must be assessed locally.
- IMC does not advise on whether your insurance policy will pay.
Your Coordinator
One Named Person, Start to Finish
You are not routed through a queue. The coordinator assigned at intake stays with your case through discharge and follow-up.
- Confirms receipt of your records the same working day
- Tells you what is missing and exactly how to ask for it
- Passes the case to the right consultant and chases the review
- Walks you through the written plan and the estimate, in your language
- Arranges the appointment date, admission and pre-operative workup
- Handles follow-up questions after you return home
Languages
Coordination in English, 廣東話 and 普通話. Where a consultant works in Mandarin only, the coordinator interprets for the consultation and the written plan is produced bilingually.
Replies Monday–Saturday, 09:00–19:00 HKT.
Timeline
How Long Each Stage Actually Takes
Stages one to three are remote and cost nothing. You can stop at any point.
Records received
Receipt confirmed the same working day. If something essential is missing, you are told what to obtain and from whom.
Specialist review
Normally within 48 hours of a complete submission. Complex cases, or cases needing a second subspecialty, take longer — you are told if that applies.
Plan and estimate
Written plan and itemised estimate follow the review, then a call with your coordinator to work through them.
Scheduling
Only if you decide to proceed. Appointment date, admission and pre-operative workup arranged with the treating department.
Your Records
How Your Medical Information Is Handled
- Records are shared only with the coordinator assigned to your case and the consultant reviewing it.
- They are not published, sold, or used for marketing, and are never shown as a case example.
- You can ask for your files to be deleted at any time by writing to info@imcdoctor.com.
- Submitting an assessment form does not create a doctor–patient relationship.
- We do not post patient testimonials, recovery stories or before-and-after images anywhere on this site.
Why there are no patient stories here
Testimonials and recovery stories are persuasive precisely because they are individual — which is what makes them a poor basis for a medical decision, and why we do not publish them. What you get instead is the reasoning behind a recommendation, in writing, for your own case.
Services FAQ
Questions About How This Works
No. The assessment is entirely remote — imaging, history, written review, plan and estimate. Travel only becomes relevant if you decide to proceed with treatment, and that decision is yours to make after you have everything in writing.
No. IMC does not arrange flights, accommodation or visas, and does not partner with anyone who does. Our scope is medical assessment, specialist appointments and treatment coordination. Anything else you arrange independently.
The treating hospital and the treating physician are responsible for clinical care and clinical decisions. IMC coordinates access and documentation; it does not practise medicine. This is stated in the medical disclaimer at the bottom of every page.
You leave with a bilingual discharge summary and a rehabilitation protocol written so your own physician or physiotherapist can work from it directly. Follow-up questions go through your coordinator, and further review appointments can be arranged if needed.
Yes, with your consent. Tell the coordinator who is authorised to speak for you and in which language, and that is recorded on the case.
You will be told so, plainly, and told why. Cases that need emergency care, cases outside the subspecialties in the network, and cases where the imaging does not support the operation being sought all fall into that category. There is no cost and no pressure to continue.
Question not answered here?
Message a coordinator directly. There is no script and no obligation — if IMC is not the right route for your case, you will be told so.
Start With a Question, Not a Commitment
Message a coordinator to find out whether IMC is the right route for your case. There is no script and no obligation.

Medical Assessment
Submit Your Medical Assessment
Send your imaging and a short history. A consultant in the relevant subspecialty reviews it and you receive a written summary of the options identified — normally within 48 hours.
Prefer to message us?
WhatsApp is the fastest route. You can send photos of your report directly in the chat, in English, 廣東話 or 普通話.
Tick what you already have. The message will list it for you — a complete first message is what makes a 48-hour turnaround possible.
Nothing is stored by this checklist. It only builds the text of your first message.
Your files are used only to arrange a specialist review and are not published anywhere.

The information on this website is provided for general reference and does not constitute a diagnosis, a treatment recommendation, or medical advice. It is not a substitute for consultation with a qualified physician, and no doctor–patient relationship is created by using this site or by submitting an assessment form. Treatment options, recovery times and outcomes vary between individuals and depend on clinical findings. IMC coordinates access to independent hospitals and their medical staff; the treating hospital and physician remain responsible for clinical decisions and care. If you are experiencing severe pain, loss of function, numbness or any emergency symptom, seek immediate care locally.
IMC arranges medical assessment, specialist appointments and treatment coordination only. IMC does not arrange flights, accommodation, visas or any other non-medical itinerary.
